The Consul General

Giandomenico Milano

Born in Latisana (UD) on September 13, 1980, he graduated in Political Science with a specialization in International and European Union Affairs in 2005 from LUISS Guido Carli University in Rome. He later completed a postgraduate diploma in Diplomatic Studies and a second-level Master’s degree in Peacekeeping and Security Studies at Roma Tre University.

Before joining the diplomatic service, he gained professional experience in international relations and cooperation, working at the Council of Europe in Strasbourg and on projects in Vietnam and Russia.

In 2011, he joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, serving in the Directorate General for Political and Security Affairs, in the Middle East Division, until 2013. From 2013 to 2017, he was Deputy Head of Mission at the Italian Embassy in Sri Lanka; from 2017 to 2019, he headed the Political, Press, and Cultural Office at the Italian Embassy in Ethiopia; and from 2019 to 2021, he served as Head of the Political Office and ASEAN Relations at the Italian Embassy in Indonesia.

Back in Rome, in August 2021, he was reassigned to the Directorate General for Political and Security Affairs, where he served as Deputy Head of the Middle East Division.

Since August 11, 2025, he has been serving as Consul General of Italy in Bengaluru, with consular jurisdiction over the States of Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and the Union Territory of Puducherry.

He is married and has two children. He is fluent in Italian, English, French, and Spanish, and has a working knowledge of Indonesian.
